De minimis
A general legal principle that trivial, technical breaches shouldn't be enforced as harshly as real ones.
Short for "de minimis non curat lex", the law doesn't concern itself with trifles. It's sometimes invoked where an overstay or breach was marginal, a minute or two, rather than a genuine, avoidable contravention. It's a supporting argument, not a guaranteed defence on its own, and works best alongside the specific grace-period rules that actually apply to your ticket.
